INTRODUCTION

In this selection of images, you can view examples of images for a company which designs and produces transparencies, windshields and windows for original equipment manufactures within the nautical and motorboat industry. As you may see, many of the original images were captured in “dry” location trade shows, with the specific purpose of post production change. Most challenging are the windshields, since achieving a glass finish with reflections and highlights matching the replacement location must be at all times 100% credible. Equally, great care must be taken to remove conflicting reflections which are hidden within the many polished surfaces of the vessel’s original ‘true’ location. If desired, you may follow the links below those which are currently being displayed on the AcryliCo website.

Image enhancement requires excellent attention to detail and expert knowledge in photographic techniques with a very clear understanding of the nuances of how light interacts with different subject matter. These days it is not uncommon to sees images in magazines and posters which look fake and not credible. This is because the enhancement process has not followed the subtlety of realism, or possesses elements which do not reflect the natural delicate patterns of light and shadow, and even though we may not be able to pinpoint the exact conflicting element, our trained eyes rapidly detect the unrealistic look.

At Emotivize, we take image manipulation with utmost seriousness and remain 100% committed to create images which are not only beautiful but also credible and realistic. We benchmark our designs on over 20 years experience within traditional photographic art and lighting techniques and apply these with extreme care; sagely considering every aspect of the image as a whole, so the finished result combines all elements in harmony; highlights, shadows and reflections are assiduously applied, in such a manner, some images require many hours of painstaking manipulation, in some instances, the master document exceeding one gigabyte in size, combining dozens of different layers, each playing its small part in achieving a near perfect finished result.

This image required a lot of corrective work, because the early morning misty lighting was of a different color temperature and coming from a very low angle, in order for the canopy to match the surrounding landscape.

WINDSHIELDS >> CENTER CONSOLE: Cape Horn windshield

The vessel was being exhibited at an important trade show in Florida, unfortunately situated next to a very a large tree with dense dark foliage behind it. Its location brought a plethora of problems, not least the issue of poor lighting conditions as well as a lot of confusing reflections. The corrective work was painstaking but with a final result which is a complete departure from the original.

HOME LANDING PAGE >> FIFTH SLIDE: DYNAMIC ENCLOSED WINDSHIELD FOR DEEP IMPACT 399

This high performance power boat was still in its development stage hence no actual images of it in the water had been taken, therefore an image had to be urgently created for the annual IBBI boat show in Florida to increase its appeal to the visiting public.

HOME LANDING PAGE >> EIGHTH SLIDE: MBC CANOPY WITH OVERHEAD STORAGE

Another example of a vessel taken at a trade show. The dramatic change into the warm light of a Floridian sunset has drawn many positive comments for this particular image. Because this vessel was being displayed as an exhibit at a busy trade show, a lot of work was required to remove the many smudges on the high luster surface brought on by the many curious visitors wishing to look into the overhead storage unit.

Here is another example of dramatic transformation. Originally this image was created to communicate and promote the durability of AcryliCo windshields. However, it can also be viewed on their website, in the “center console” section. Please follow link below to view this and other examples of post production image transformation.

As with other images of vessels in ‘dry’ location, this image of a complex windshield design for a Key West Billistic motor boat required a lot of corrective work because the paint luster and chrome accents had to be completely reworked with closely matching reflections of the surrounding landscape.

HATCHES & STORAGE >> LIVE BAIT WELLS: INTREPID UNDER-SEAT BAIT WELL

Live bait wells are becoming ever more popular features in modern leisure and cruise boats. In this instance the fish had to be added in after the photographic shoot as none could be sourced in time for that day. Creating the proper refractive aberration in the corners of the tank whilst retaining the distorted background deck floor was a great challenge and a lot of fun, but was handsomely rewarded with great praise from a very satisfied client.

HATCHES & STORAGE >> LIVE BAIT WELLS: SMALL OVAL BAIT WELL

The original image supplied for this bait well was of very inferior quality, not only due to it’s incorrect exposure, but also because the many water droplets on the hatch cover surface were distorting and obscuring the clarity of the fish inside the well. Since no other images could be found, restoring this image to its present state took over ten hours of meticulous corrections.

HATCHES & STORAGE >> TACKLE UNITS: MEDIUM TACKLE UNIT

Due to the urgency of this order, there was no time to photograph this tackle unit in a professional studio environment. So the CEO of the company took this quick snap-shot in the company’s workshop and asked Emotivize to “do its magic”. The resulting image had to be perspective corrected and sharpened so details can be clearly seen. A second image of the same unit (closed) was reversed was inserted to add depth and perspective, while the simulated suffusive lightning in the company’s corporate colors was added to complete the image for PR promotional purposes.

WINDSHIELDS MAIN LANDING PAGE: SPORTSFISH 222 Windshield

A fine example of light and shadow transformation, and as with other images of vessels in ‘dry’ location, this Sportssfish 222 is transformed into a dawn-break scene; a day of adventure and possible great catch lies ahead. Every last detail of the image has been carefully considered, such as the entirely different position of the sun, right down to the reflections of the polished steel steering wheel and throttle lever.

HOME LANDING PAGE >> SEVENTH SLIDE: POWERPLAY AT DUSK

Powerplay motorboat transposed from ‘dry’ exhibition area to a warm evening nautical location. since these images are created to promote windshields the large manufacturer’s logo was removed as it was considered too big a distraction. Warm light has been added into the light tones of the boat’s fiber-glass accents, and shadows accentuated due to the late time of day; waves can now also be seen reflected in the dark luster of the hull.

WINDSHIELDS >> MAIN ARTICLE SECTION: EDGEWATER Windshield

Complex windshield design for an Edgewater motor boat photographed at a Florida boat exhibition. The image was captured at mid-day so a fair amount of corrective work was required to soften the highlights and shadows. The vessel has been transposed to a quiet marina harbor area with reflections added into all polished surfaces so as to complete the visual effect.
